Business Development Manager - Greater London

Business Development & CRM Manager

Sales, Marketing & Account Management | Medical Technology

About the Business

A well-established UK SME supplying specialist medical technology and associated clinical products to healthcare organisations across the UK is seeking a Business Development & CRM Manager to join its growing team.

The business works with both NHS and private-sector customers and represents a range of established products within the medical technology and clinical equipment market.

This is a newly created position, offering the opportunity to take ownership of the commercial development of a growing product portfolio and to establish a more structured, CRM-led approach to sales, marketing and customer management.

The Role

This is a hands-on, commercially focused role covering business development, account management, CRM and elements of marketing.

You will take responsibility for developing new opportunities while also strengthening relationships with existing customers. A key part of the role will be introducing a modern CRM platform and using it effectively to create greater visibility of the sales pipeline, customer activity and future opportunities.

The successful candidate will have considerable autonomy and will be expected to bring practical CRM and B2B sales experience to the role.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage the full business development cycle, from identifying and qualifying prospects through to converting opportunities into sales.
  • Develop existing customer relationships and identify opportunities for account growth across the product portfolio.
  • Work with senior management to establish and deliver agreed sales and account development objectives.
  • Evaluate and implement a modern CRM platform appropriate for a growing SME, including consideration of AI-enabled sales and marketing functionality.
  • Establish effective processes for market segmentation, lead generation, opportunity management, pipeline development and sales reporting.
  • Maintain and make appropriate use of the company's existing customer database as a historical source of customer and account information.
  • Develop structured customer contact plans to maintain engagement, particularly with accounts where activity or purchasing levels have declined.
  • Personally manage key customer relationships while coordinating customer contact with colleagues where appropriate.
  • Represent the business at relevant industry exhibitions, conferences and other events.
  • Identify new business development and networking opportunities within the healthcare and medical technology sectors.
  • Coordinate marketing activity, product information, digital content and website updates across the portfolio.
  • Provide regular reports and commercial updates to senior management, including pipeline, opportunities, customer activity and sales performance.

About You

We're looking for someone who combines commercial drive with a structured, relationship-led approach to sales.

You will ideally have:

  • Sales experience - Other industries will be considered.
  • Prefered - Experience selling medical devices, clinical equipment, healthcare technology or another comparable B2B technical product.
  • Proven experience managing a B2B sales pipeline and developing both new and existing customer accounts.
  • Strong hands-on experience with at least one modern CRM platform. This is an essential requirement for the role.
  • Experience using CRM systems to manage leads, opportunities, customer segmentation, activity and reporting.
  • Ideally, some exposure to AI-enabled CRM, sales or marketing tools and an interest in using technology to improve commercial processes.
  • Strong relationship-building and account management skills.
  • The confidence to take ownership of a broad commercial remit within a small and close-knit business.
  • The willingness to travel occasionally within the UK for customer meetings, exhibitions and industry events.

Experience with older or legacy CRM platforms would be useful but is not essential

Why Join?

This is an opportunity to join an established specialist business at a point where it is investing in the next stage of its commercial development.

Rather than joining an established sales department with a predefined structure, you will have the opportunity to help build the function — selecting and implementing the CRM system, establishing processes, developing the pipeline and shaping how customer relationships are managed.

The role would suit someone who enjoys autonomy, wants to see the direct impact of their work and is comfortable combining strategic thinking with hands-on execution.
